The constellation Gemini is linked to Castor and Pollux, twin brothers of Greek myth and brothers of Helen of Troy. Castor was mortal and Pollux immortal. When Castor was killed, Pollux was heartbroken and begged Zeus to let him share his immortality with his brother. Zeus agreed: the twins would spend their time together, alternating between the heavens and the underworld, and were placed in the sky side by side.
