The High Priestess
The High Priestess is card two of the Major Arcana, and where The Magician acts, she waits and knows. She's the card of intuition, inner knowledge and the things that can't be learned from facts alone — the quiet voice that often knows before you can explain why.
What's on the card
A woman sits calmly between two pillars, one black marked B (Boaz) and one white marked J (Jachin), the pillars of Solomon's Temple — opposites like light and dark, known and unknown. Behind her hangs a veil decorated with pomegranates, hiding what lies beyond. She holds a scroll marked TORA, partly covered by her robe: sacred knowledge, only partly revealed. A crescent moon lies at her feet and she wears a crown shaped like the moon's phases, tying her to cycles, the subconscious and feminine intuition.
The High Priestess Upright
Upright, The High Priestess asks you to trust your intuition. The answer to your question may not come from research or other people's opinions, but from paying attention to your gut, your dreams, and the feelings you keep brushing aside.
She also represents patience and stillness. Not everything needs to be acted on right away; sometimes the wise move is to wait, observe and let the full picture emerge. There may be hidden information in play — things you sense but can't yet see.
The High Priestess Reversed
Reversed, The High Priestess often means you're ignoring your intuition, or drowning it out with noise, busyness or other people's advice. It can point to secrets, gossip, or information being deliberately withheld.
It may also suggest feeling disconnected from yourself — acting on autopilot, or doubting instincts that have usually served you well.

The High Priestess in Love & Relationships
In love, The High Priestess suggests a deep, sometimes unspoken connection, or attraction to someone mysterious. It can also mean holding back feelings, or a relationship where not everything is out in the open yet. Reversed, look out for secrets, emotional distance, or ignoring warning signs you already sense.
The High Priestess in Career & Work
At work, this card favours listening, research and discretion over loud action. Trust your read of people and situations. It can also point to confidential matters, or a role that draws on intuition — counselling, healing, creative work. Reversed, beware office secrets or rushing decisions without enough information.
The High Priestess and Money
With money, The High Priestess advises caution and privacy: don't share every plan, and don't commit until you've listened to your instincts. Reversed, it may warn of hidden costs or information you haven't been given.
Advice
Be still long enough to hear what you already know.
The High Priestess — Yes or No?
The High Priestess is more of a "not yet" or "the answer is hidden" than a clear yes or no. Wait for more information, and trust what your intuition is telling you in the meantime.
